Welcome to the Mounted Police Training Academy

The Mounted Police Training Academy is the only accredited mounted police school in the nation.  We are a satellite school of the University of Lousiville and our students receive continuing education credits through the Southern Police Institute at the University of Louisville.

Our goal is to deliver the finest mounted police training and education within the equine industry and be the industry standard.  We are committed to keeping mounted untis relevant in 21st century policing.

As one of law enforcements most versatile resources, the horse is a magnet, drawing crowds everywhere they go.  The community loves to meet and greet not only the horses, but the officers and civilians who ride them.  Mounted units are perfect for fulfilling rightful policing stratefies adopted by progressive agencies across the country.

The community is often amazed at the level of training and ability this "herd of two" possesses.  Regardless of the activity, whether it is community policing, crowd control or search and rescue operations, mounted units are an integral part of todays law enforcement.

Most people do not realize what a mounted unit or posse can do until they have witnessed it.  The challenging preparation that takes place behind the scenes provides them the level of expertise and effectiveness necessary to get the job done.

During your training, the Mounted Police Training Academy will give all riders, regardless of your exeperience level or riding discipline, the tools necessary to be a towering sign of police presence.

Our approved and accredited curriculum is based on quality, safety and the most current training methonds in the market.
